Allegory of the marriage of Archduchess Maria Anna of Austria and Charles Alexander of Lorraine, 7 January 1744 and the appointment of the couple as governors-general of the Austrian Netherlands. Empress Maria Theresa and Emperor Francis Stephen standing next to throne under canopy, the empress holds a document (the appointment certificate) in her hand. In front of them is the newlyweds with a kneeling page and in the air an angel (genius) with the wedding torch. In the clouds the wedding goddess Juno with her chariot and a peacock. The inscription refers incorrectly to Maria Theresa. Design for a performance on the triumphal arch erected on the Hofberg in Brussels at the festive entry of the couple in 1744.
