Aquamanile in the form of a lion, Johannes Apengeter (attributed to), c. 1330 - c. 1335 Canvas Print

The object, cast in cire perdue technique and largely added to it, has the shape of a lion with a dragon as a handle. The details are prostretched (the mane, the locks on the legs, the tail of the lion), engraved (the wings of the dragon) or punched (the mustache of the lion, the back and tail of the dragon). The dragon is connected to the lion's head, back and tail. The lion looking ahead has a threkop in its beech, which acts as a spout. In the head of the lion, a more or less rectangular piece is sawn out, on which a valve fastened with a hinge is arranged in order to be able to fill the object with water. The animal has protruding ears and roughly indicated mane, which cover the neck and head. The two legs and the head of the dragon are placed in the lion's neck. On the torso of the dragon, two wings are indicated. The tail of the lion, the onset of which is marked by two plucks of hair, is divided in half in the middle by a thickening. The lower tail part is serrated, the upper tail part is flamed decorated. The front legs are provided with six, the hind legs (initially) of four plucked hair. The claws are clearly but roughly modeled. A rectangular piece was used on the chest under the fur strands, after the casting core had been removed. The starters of about ten rectangular casting needles and three round casting improvements can be observed on the hull and head. The upper part of the right hind leg is dented. Old repairs are the flap, the left leg of the dragon, the right hind leg of the lion (it therefore has five hair pluffs), a piece in the lower part of the chest, the dented part between the forelimbs. The severely damaged abdomen and the inside of the upper leg of the left hind leg (which also includes a hole) were restored in 1982.
