Arrival of a schuttersstuk at the air raid shelters at Heemskerk, 1939 - 1941 Canvas Print
The largest piece of gunners of Van der Helst, the flag of captain Roelof Bicker and lieutenant Jan Michielsz Blaeuw is transported. From a glass truck the work is carried into the bunker. The bomb-proof cellars were built in 1940, after the shelters in North Holland villages proved to be not safe. The museum's collection items had been evacuated there in 1939. In 1941 the new cellars were put into use.
