Auto-da-fe (autodafe) in Valladolid, May 21, 1558. Procession of about thirty Protestants sentenced to death by the Spanish Inquisition to a place outside the city where they are burned at the stake. In the middle a building with dignitaries, next to it a wooden stand on which the heretics are condemned. The convicts wear special headgear (capirote) and cloak with a representation of the hellmouth. In caption the legend 1-12 in Dutch.
