Base for an oil lamp, Andrea Briosco (follower of), c. 1530 - c. 1539 Canvas Print
On the corner at the front of the three-sided foot, which rests on three outward curly legs, there is a siren, whose spread wings lie against the side walls of the foot. At the top rises the head of a wild boar, which holds its muzzle against the head of the siren stretched forward. The latter wears a wide band around the neck with a beef skull as a piece of jewelry and a slot band around her waist, including drooping acanthus leaves. These partly cover the front curl leg underneath, partly the body splitting into two parts, which runs narrowly and merges into both rear curl legs. On the abdomen sits on both sides a winged, forward-leaning putto in high relief, which drinks from the chest of the siren; turned away from him, also in high relief, on one side sits a satyr with panflute and on the other a satyr with torch, playing on a panflute. On the reverse an inscribed oval plaque after an antique example: Jupiter on an eagle seated opposite a standing, next to whom a Cupid on a column and the inscription: Cupidus. Above the medallion two twisted, seated putti with between them in a date palm. Above rises the handle, which consists of a splitting slot band, the top of which ends in a ram's head and the bottom part ends in two volutes with a shell at the junction. Left and right below the medallion, as well as on the boar's head, a shell; at the top on one side a protrusion.
