Basin, anonymous, c. 1322 - c. 1350 Canvas Print
The single-plated object has an almost flat bottom and a straight wall, which protrudes outwards at the top and ends in a profiled edge. The bottom, the inside and outside of the wall have a stung, engraved and punched ornament. On the platform, a leaves running through an edge of stylized spire surrounded by field with circles and fish, which seem to move towards the center. The wall has a frieze on the protruding part, in which against a background of protruding praise in Mammeluk-Naskhi script from the Mammelukken period words are affixed, which relate, among other things, to power, victory, fame and happiness. The inscriptions are interrupted three times by a round field, in which a coat of arms or a man figure sitting on a throne in a tailor's position are included against a background of outstretched praise. On the shield above round and below pointed is the coat of arms of Elisabeth of Carinthia (c. 1300-c. 1350): shared I quartered obliquely, 1 and 4 with poles, 2 and 3 with eagle, II 1 divided, a three right-facing lions, b with a crossbar, two with an eagle. The crowned man figure surrounded by a halo is seated on a bench, has a cup in his right hand (?) and holds his left hand in front of the chest or on the hip. The frieze is trimmed at the bottom with an edge of palmets and stylized pointed leaves and at the top by a first edge of tendrils, which is divided into strips by six six-leaf rosettes and by a second edge of circles and diamonds. On the outside of the wall, the same coat of arms is included four times in the Latin text indicated in Romanesque majuskels: MENTEM : SCA : SP (shield) OTANIE : ONOREM : D (?) (shield) EI : PATREM : LIB (shield) ERACIONIS : (eagle) (shield).
