Bord van Ab van Alphen, anonymous, c. 1625 - c. 1650 Canvas Print
Board with on the edge a crowned (tomb crown) alliance coat of arms, consisting of two coats of arms against a background of leaf work. If the sign is indeed from the French admiral, something the inscription suggests, it is Admiral Chateau Regnaud, commander of the 14-ship French squadron of the line that protected the Spanish silver fleet in vigo bay. The inscription is engraved on the reverse in a square field marked by a border of lobe- and pointed ornaments.
