Proposed is the attack of the Dutch fleet on the English fleet that was anchored on the River Medway, a tributary of the Thames. In the foreground, the captured fort Sheerness goes up in flames. To the right of three burning English ships you can see the capture of the flagship Royal Charles. The destruction of the English fleet at Chatham was an important episode of the Second Anglo-Dutch War (1665-1667).
