Candle crown of three heights with eight arms each ending in a snake's head, anonymous, 1625 - 1650 Canvas Print
The object consists of a round wrought iron rod, an iron split pin and the following cast and then processed parts on the lathe: the suspension ring, the upper trunk part with the middle stand ring, the lower stand ring, the sphere, the knob and the three times eight arms with the corresponding grease traps, candle holders and pins. The round hanging ring merges at the bottom into a hollow cylinder decorated with a heavy nodus. The upper trunk part is inverted conical and decorated with a heavy profiled rib. The ring placed below it is profiled hollowly round. The next part consists of the upper stand ring with an almost spherical baluster, the edge of which is decorated with three grooved rings. This upper stand ring is numbered at the arms and pingaten I to VIII. The part with the middle stand ring has a corresponding baluster shape and the same numbering indicated on the head at the armholes. The lower stand ring has a numbering indicated on the head at the armholes. The sphere is provided with a hole at the top and bottom. The powerfully profiled button, which ends in a round button, is attached to the wrought iron rod. This has a gap at the top for the split pin. In the case of the trunk parts, the order of mounting by means of notches in the hole edges is indicated. The arms are provided with a ridge on the trunk side, in which a hole is arranged to be able to secure them with a pin in the stand rings. There they are marked I through VIII, but with the exception of the first, second, fifth, and eighth arms of the lower wreath, which have been restored there, and of the second, third, sixth, and eighth arms of the upper wreath, on which there is no or any other calculation. The S-shaped arms have the shape of a snake with a tail twisted to the trunk side and outwardly a raised head with a round button on top, in which the threaded hole is arranged to fasten the candle holders with the grease traps. The arms are the same size per wreath and are cast with the help of the same models. In two arms of the upper wreath, screw ends in the spheres on the head are applied to the head during a repair. The round candle holders are vase-shaped with a profiled rib. At the top they have two hollow-round profiles, and a cantilevered edge and at the bottom a foot consisting of two hollow-round profiles, where for some the numbering is indicated by carvings. The foot ends in a rejuvenating screw end with a center hole. The holders of the upper wreath are smaller than the others. Some of them lack a hollow-round profile at the foot, or the screw end has been repaired or changed. It is possible that some holders have been added. The convex fat traps are smooth at the top and have fish-blowing godrons and a rib at the bottom. The grease traps of the three wreaths each have their own size and are cast with the help of the same models. The pins are decorated with convex buttons. Those of the lower and middle wreath have the same size, the upper one has smaller pins.
