Cartoon on a number of Dutch poets from the first half of the nineteenth century, denounced by W.A. Hecker in his 'Hippokreen-ontzwaveling' of 1838. Procession of nine ridiculously dressed poets riding all kinds of different animals to the top of Mount Helikon. At the top of the inn 'Dichters-Welvaren' they are welcomed by Johannes Immerzeel. The poets are, from top to bottom: Jan van 's Gravenweert or Adriaan van der Hoop Jr. on a dromedary, Willem Hendrik Warnsinck on a donkey, Christianus Robidé van der Aa on a long-haired goat, Abraham Nicolaas van Pellecom on a mooing cow, Jacob van Oosterwijk Bruyn as a jester on a bear, Jan Brester Albertuszoo on a cow, Johannes Wap on an old horse, Jacob Wybrand IJntema on a long-haired buck and finally Alexander François Sifflé on a pig.
