Cartoon on the abuses of the Roman church, 1616. On the left, the hellmouth with devils. A false prophet in sheep's clothing preaches from a book. Reformers Calvin and Luther cut down a tree containing the Pope and the Whore of Babylon. On this tree and on a second tree marked Inquisition pulls with ropes a group of Protestant princes including Maurits and James I of England. With heretic burns. In the background a procession led by the Whore of Babylon with papal three crown seated on the seven-headed beast, devils, followed by the false prophet, worldly princes and Catholic clergymen. On the right, Catholics fish valuables out of a pond. With many other details and prominent figures including Jan Neyen, Johannes Wtenbogaert and Jacobus Taurinus. The print belongs in the accompanying pamphlet (RP-P-1957-7B).
