Collage with the murder of William of Orange made from various prints, Frans Hogenberg, 1650 - 1700 Canvas Print
The etching, published by Frans Hogenberg, with the murder of William of Orange, mounted on a back sheet and processed into a collage for which parts of six or seven other prints have been used. The Prinsenhof, where the murder takes place, has been expanded into a large palace with the help of parts carved from architectural prints. On the right is added an excerpt from another print by Hogenberg, namely the right part from La Motte-Gondrin hung at Valenciennes (1562). The whole is hand-coloured.
