Cup of the Court of Justice of Voorne and Putten, anonymous, 1701 Canvas Print

Cup with lid. The cup rests on a foot with a flat, protruding edge with a whimsical contour. The base has four fields lined by foaming water. On each field is applied the body of a fish. The tail of the fish tightens around the trunk, and ends in a double tail fin. Three of the four pairs of tail fins are gone. Between each pair of fins there is a hole, right below it is placed on the foot an eye, in which a chain hooks. The cuppa of the cup has a curved underside and an obliquely ascending straight wall. The underside is decorated with turned acanthus leaf and lobes, on the wall above there are two representations, which are separated by a coat of arms. Between columns is an emperor bust, which rests on a coat of arms surrounded by a chain with the order sign of the golden fleece. The coat of arms shows a double eagle with a shield with a crossbar on the chest. On the other side, a crowned coat of arms resting on crossed palm branches can be seen, which is held up on tied ribbons by a griffin. The coat of arms shows a roaring lion on a tower with pewter and a gate. The representation to the right of the coat of arms shows a woman with a triangular headgear and an open book in her hand. She is seated on a throne flanked by a sphinx. In front of the throne are four bearded men and a woman, who spread money on a table. The second man from the right holds a staff in his hand. In the background a mountain landscape with a rotonda. To the left of the coat of arms, the blindfolded woman can be seen with a triangular headgear, sword, open book and scale; she tramples two serpents, in the foreground lie a dagger and a sword. To her right is a group of four men, a woman and two winged children. Behind a kneeling and handcuffed man is a soldier with a raised axe at the ready. Next to the soldier is a second soldier who carries a bundle of arrows. To the right of the kneeling man is a handcuffed man, with two children behind him. One child has wings, the other wears a burning torch. A half-naked woman, seen on the back, flees. The lid has the shape of a crown. This is made up of a gilt silver band, on which oval fields with rectangular and semicircular elevations are arranged. Above the band you can see points with originally eight (now seven) flowers and eight pearls. In the crown is a hat divided into four parts. Cables run along the edges. In the middle there is a rectangular elevation with a national apple on it. On the inside of the lid is a loose gilt silver plate. This is decorated with an allegorical representation. In the middle you can see a woman seated on clouds with half bare breast. She is crowned with a laurel wreath and bears various attributes: a pomegranate, a bundle of arrows wrapped with ribbons and a horn of plenty. Around the performance is an edge lettering: CONCORDIA PERMANENTE . The hat and fish are made of enamelled copper. Natural colors have been used for the fish: the body in blue/green, the fins red, and the eyes yellow. The elevated parts of the hat are decorated with blue rosettes with yellow piping drawn in perspective, the deepened parts are painted red at a later stage. The base of the national apple is decorated with standing acanthus leaf in blue and yellow, the national apple is blue.
