Interior with elegant company, dressed according to the French court fashion of c. 1634. To the music of a viola da gamba and two violins, a couple dances in the middle path. The man is wearing a wide-brim hat with large feathers. This includes curled hair down to the shoulders, on one side in a 'cadenette' in which a ribbon knotted. On the wambuis, which is richly decorated with passes, a wide flat collar of lace. Around the waist a rangée d'aiguillettes. Openwork sleeves so that the shirt is visible. Culottes galonnées, knotted just below the knee with a ruban folttant. Shoes with a large rosette (the rest of the gentlemen wear boots). The lady is dressed in a dark gown that is open from the front over a light jupe carré tombant sur la terre. Bodice with cleavage with wide balloon sleeves, decoupées à bandes. The man in the front right, seen from behind, is wearing overshoes.
