Dream of Nebuchadnezzar, John or Luke of Doetechum, 1646 Canvas Print
Daniel stands before the throne of King Nebuchadnezzar and explains the king's dreams. At the top are the king's dreams. A guard descends from the sky on the left and gives an order to cut down the large tree. On the right the dream of the statue with the head of gold and feet of iron and loam. Daniel tells us that the first dream means that the king will be rejected and live as an animal for seven years. In the background you can see how Nebuchadnezzar is being turned away. On the left side of the landscape, Nebuchadnezzar lives like an animal and eats grass. Below the performance a reference in Latin to the Bible text in Dan. 2:26. The Dream from Dan. 4. however, is central to this performance. This print is part of an album.
