Five-part Ceiling Decoration for the Great Hall of Soestdijk Palace, Gerard de Lairesse, c. 1676 - c. 1682 Canvas Print
Ceiling painting in five parts with diana and her companions as the main performance, painted for the 'great hall' of Soestdijk Palace. After restoration in 1983, the round central piece turned out not to belong to the original ceiling painting nor to be by the hand of De Lairesse. The four corner elements contain illusionistic architectural elements and reliefs, between which the women with attributes of hunting and putti are located. The inner ring with a classic relief with hunting scenes and a sacrificial scene to Diana is carried by caryides.
