Forgiveness of sins, P. Langweer, 1662 Canvas Print

A figure in a pij has shielded his eyes so as not to have to see the sins written on paper that hang behind him in a stall on the left. He is praised by an angel. The figures on the right behind him have sinned but are forgiven by Christ through their repentance and penance. Christ enthrones with a cross in his hands in the air, from the wounds in his side and hand blood pours down on the sinners whom he has given his forgiveness. To the left and right of the central representation are personifications of sin and repentance. At the bottom is a canvas with an eight-line Dutch verse. To the left of the verse is an effigy of two sinners, on the right an effigy of two penitents.
