Full Breeches of Ernst Casimir I, anonymous, in or before 1632 Canvas Print
Knee-length roughened wool fabric, loosely falling and decorated with brandebourgs of silver thread over the sea seam, probably worn by Ernst Casimir during the siege of Roermond. Model: two-sided roughened wool fabric in linen binding. Consisting of two front and two backs (49 cm) with an intermediate sposition of 1.5 cm in the side seam. Wrinkled at the waist and knee strap. Closure at the front (fly) by means of five buttonholes and knots, one of which is left. The fly is trimmed with reddish-brown rips side. In the waistband on both sides two round, festooned nesting holes through which a ribbon was pulled. In one of the nesting holes a remnant of the silk ribbon with a metal nestel at the end. In the fronts on each side two small, vertical side pockets, lined with chamois leather and two large, vertical side pockets, lined with silk. In the backs are placed right next to the side seam long, vertical side pockets, lined with silk. Seven metal hooks were sewn onto the waistband, which were intended to connect the wambuis and the trousers. On the knee straps there are remnants of the silk ribbon that was used to close the pants. The whole is lined with linen. Decoration: the buttons with a wooden core are decorated with silver thread. The inserts on the side seam originally have 38 knots with narrow golden loops. It is not a closure, but intended solely for decoration and is very similar to the brandebourgs of the so-called Polish skirts. On either side of the buttons faux horizontal buttonholes, trimmed with edges of silver canetille and gold thread. Next to it, little silver studs. Note: just below and next to the fly was a large hole, which was filled with a support fabric during the restoration in 1979.
