Glass pane with scene from the history of Miltiades, crowned with a bust of Rombout Hogerbeets, 1627. Miltiades is imprisoned after years of loyal service. On either side Pallas and Mercury, further decorated with tendrils, weapons and putti. Below the central scene a verse of 6 lines. Part of a series of three allegorical glass panes commemorating the captivity, flight and exile of Hugo Grotius, 1619-1622. Made in 1627 for the house of Abraham Daatselaar, the merchant at Gorcum who helped Hugo Grotius flee.
