Hercules and the constitutional revision of 1840 (1845), anonymous, 1840 - 1845 Canvas Print
A giant (Hercules) waving a club with the inscription 'constitutional revision' and in the other hand a rolled up document with the inscription 'constitution 1840'. On the body of the giant are the names of members of the House of Representatives of the States-General. On the right, the Dutch Virgin turns her face away in horror, in the foreground four men and a woman welcome the giant with outstretched arms and laurel wreaths. Probably a cartoon on the rejection by the chamber in May 1845 of the 'Proposal of the Nine Men', a proposal for constitutional revision submitted on 10 December 1844.
