Hut of the surgeon on the VOC ship de Stavenisse, Jan Brandes, 1785 - 1786 Canvas Print
Interior in moderate perspective of a ship's cabin. The distant point in the drawing lies in a ship's cage with bedding that is drawn too small and shot with window curtains. Through a porthole, a piece of mitten is visible. The cabin is quite extensively furnished. On the left, a painting or print hangs on the wall. Underneath is a coffee set. In the front right is a chair in front of a chest of drawers. Above it hangs a shaving basin. To the right of the cage boards with books. On one: VOCM, from the VOC room Middelburg. With inscription. Part of the sketchbook by Jan Brandes, dl. 1 (1808), p. 8.
