Interior of a Gothic Church, Dirck van Delen, 1641 Canvas Print

Imaginary interior of a Gothic church, seen from a slightly elevated point of view with a look in the nave in the direction of the choir. On the left side aisle hangs a large church organ. Several columns in the nave are decorated by epitaphs. At the back right, for a choir separation crowned with the Tablets of Law, a pulpit is depicted. Various figure groups are displayed throughout the church. The interior is illuminated from the left through the large windows. The painting is signed and dated at the bottom left of the base of a pillar: 'D. v. Delen. f. 1641'. Van Delen was working in Arnemuiden near Middelburg at the time. The figures were added by the Delft painter Anthonie Palamedesz.
