Anti-Semitism in Amsterdam in 1881. Street scene of the walk-up in the Warmoesstraat in Amsterdam with cafés 'de Bijenkorf', 'Polman' at the beginning of August 1881 when there was a refusal to serve beer to Jews. The result was an influx of indignant Jews towards polman's premises. The Jews demanded beer and when that wish was granted under threat, they then refused to pay. A major brawl ensued and the police had to intervene to restore order.
