The accompanying text (pp. 191/192) mentions: Fig. 1: Parisian Fashion. Toque of 'satin lame' decorated with feathers. Satin gown, topped with ruffles of gauze and bouquets of violins. White gloves and white shoes. Fig. 2: German fashion. Hairstyle 'à la polonaise' decorated with light blue cream and an 'esprit'. Fig. 3: Simple hairstyle with the hair in a bun on top of the head and a demi-garland, decorated with 'gaze de soie'. Both coiffures are designs by J. P. van der Heyden , hairdresser in Frankfurt am Main. The print is part of the fashion magazine Journal des Dames et des Modes, published in Frankfurt as a copy of the French edition of Pierre de la Mésangère, Paris, 1797-1839.
