Kaarsenkroon, anonymous, anonymous, 1650 Canvas Print
The object consists of a wrought iron rod, an iron split pin and the following cast and worked parts of yellow copper on the lathe: the hanging ring, two trunk parts, the sphere, the knob, two times eight arms with the corresponding grease traps, candle holders and pins. The upper trunk part decorated with grooved rings is spherical at the top, then turns into a stand ring with openings for the eight arms. They are marked with the numbers one to eight smashed left of the opening. At the opening marked with the number three, the number three is entered again on the right. The lower trunk part decorated with grooved rings is balustervormg at the top, then turns into a stand ring with openings for the eight arms. They are marked with the numbers one to eight smashed left of the opening. The round sphere is undecored. On the button at the bottom of the trunk the inscription: HENDRICK SCHOLTEN 1650. The rod has a gap in the upper end for the split pin, with which the whole can be attached to the hanging ring. The arms of the two wreaths have an S-shape, and merge outwards into the flat fastening part for the holder with the grease trap. Halfway up the arm is stylized dolphin head and its curls. On the trunk side they are equipped with a ridge to be secured with a pin in the trunk. There, the arms are for the most part marked with one to eight smashed dots. The grease traps are ribbed at the bottom profiled around the opening and have two grooved rings each time. The cylindrical candle holders, which have a profiled protruding edge, two grooved rings and a thickening at the bottom, pass into a baluster with the threaded end at the bottom and a button, in which the center hole can be seen. In the case of the three wreaths, the arms and grease traps are each cast using the same models. The candle holders of the upper wreaths are the same, those of the lower wreath are larger but of the same model. The original pins have a baluster-shaped vase on top. They have been supplemented with other pieces. Both the grease traps and the stand rings have closed, round holes, which indicate that the candle crown was once electrified.
