Lidded tureen and stand, Johannes Schiotling, 1780 Canvas Print
The round saucer and terrine are attached to each other with a screw. The arched saucer rests on a low, profiled stand ring. A pearl frame runs over the slightly raised outer edge; inside is a double row of acanthus leaves floated. In the middle, where the saucer rises, it is floated with two layers of laurel leaves placed radially on top of each other. Saucer and terrine are separated from each other by a wide ring, decorated with a pearl frame and trimmed along the top and bottom with a narrow cable edge. The lower part of the tureen is decorated with a radially arranged wreath of hollow godrons. Around the upper part is an imposed border with four rectangular panels with leaf volutes openwork, separated by square fields with rosettes. A pearl frame runs over the top edge. The loose lid closes with a straight wall over this frame, so that it is not visible when the terrine is closed. The domed, rejuvenating lid is floated with a wreath of laurel leaves applied radially from the center. It is topped by a molded knob in the shape of a pine cone. The tureen is gilded on the inside, the lid is left ungilded. The saucer and lid are engraved with the crest of the Hope coat of arms. On the underside of the saucer is engraved: N3"36"7.
