The oil reservoir, placed at the back of the mirror, is an elegantly designed and partially gilded vase with a float at the bottom, standing in a cylinder and connected to the lamp via a supply. The lamp holder has a small oil receptor at the bottom; the glass is missing. The parabolic mirror is made of copper, the mirror surface silvered.
