Map of Brussels, consisting of six volumes, anonymous, 1748 Canvas Print

Map of Brussels with buildings in a bird's eye view, consisting of six parts. In a bar above the floor plan the title. At the bottom right a cartouche with the assignment by Martinus de Tailly to Philip IV, King of Spain. On top of the cartouche the coat of arms of the King of Spain. At the foot of the cartouche the coat of arms of Martinus de Tailly. On the left side of the cartouche a putto with the attributes of Minerva and on the right a putto with the attributes of Mercury. Top right a cartouche with legend 1-82. At the top left a cartouche containing seven family weapons, from left to right the weapons of the Sleeus, Serhuyghs, Steenweeghs, Coudenberg, Serroelofs, Sweerts and Roodenbeke family. These are the seven generations of Brussels who were destined to lead the city with wisdom, defend it with strength and make it more attractive and prosperous. At the bottom left a cartouche with a view of the Cathedral of Saint Michael and Saint Goedele. Above the cathedral you can see a performance in which a devil blows out a lantern with a bellows, this probably refers to Goedele of Brussels. Above you can see a smaller representation of an angel defeating a devil figure, this refers to Saint Michael.
