Model of a kiln with a boiler house, anonymous, c. 1800 - c. 1850 Canvas Print
Polychrome model of a wood stove or steam box on a base board. Water is pumped through a pump into a reservoir, from where it is fed to the boiler house. In the cottage, two boilers with ovens underneath are built in a brick building with double chimney. There is some sparse furniture available, a box bed with mattress for the stoker and a staircase that leads to a non-existent attic. The boilers feed steam to the steam box with two rooms on top of each other: one boiler feeds both rooms, the other only the lower room. In the rooms there are a few shelves. In such wood ovens, the skin planks were steamed so that they could take on the hull shape indicated by the rafters.
