Model of a Rudder, Petrus van der Loo, Petrus van der Loo, 1855 Canvas Print
Model of a rudder with stern and piece of keel. The rudder has a square rudder king and a round rudder blade. The keel has a heel. The seven rudder hooks are forged together and fall into the fingerlings with a bayonet closure, so that there are no more gaps between stern and rudder. Through the brass stirring pin runs a screw on the stern, with which the rudder can be lifted; when lighting, the rudder hooks are blocked in their rotational motion by the bayonet closure.
