Model of a Salt-Water Distiller, Adriaan Rosel, 1866 - 1867 Canvas Print
Model of a still for obtaining drinking water from seawater, placeed in the cross-section of a ship, on the ground shelf. On both sides against the ship's wall, a condenser is placed above a water box; the condensers have an inlet and outlet through the ship's wall. A piping system carries the water to a vertical, cylindrical steam boiler in the middle. The pipes are interrupted where they run to other parts of the ship, so that the exact course of the water cannot be reconstructed. The condensers are of the type Grant (see NG-MC-1108). Scale 1:10 (scale on model).
