Model of an Optical Telegraph, anonymous, c. 1798 - c. 1803 Canvas Print
Model of an optical telegraph on ground shelf, incomplete. It consists of a strung mast short gallows at the top. Between two of the four struts, sports have been applied to climb into the mast. With hoists through discs in the struts of the gallows, two wooden wings are moved halfway through the mast; two other signals that are currently missing, probably balls, are hoisted up and down with hoists over discs in the gallows. The wings are moderated on a metal ring, which can freely rotate around the mast: by means of a rod can rotate with the ring with wings, so that they are in a different line of communication. Scale 1:27 (scale on model).
