Model of the Memorial of J.F. de Friderici, Gerrit Schouten, 1812 Canvas Print
The effigy of former governor J.F.de Friderici is the central figure. Below this figure we see a coffin flanked by death (for the viewer on the right) and a grieving man (left), with there again under the family coat of arms of the De Friderici's. In color it looks like this: in blue a silver skull resting on two crossed silver death bones, at the top right a golden sun and in the upper left a golden six-pointed star. The figure of De Friderici is flanked on the left by an eagle with three flags and a lion in battle with a lioness. On the right we see a grieving woman and child with also three banners. On the column behind De Friderici is the following text: Ter Gedachtenisse van nu Weylen Den Hoog Edele Gestrengen Heere Juriaan Francois Friderici in his Edele Gestrenge leeven oud Majoor Generaal in diensten van de staate der vereenigde Nederlanden oud Gouverneur en commandant en commandant en cheff over de colonie Surinaame died in the age of 61 years in the colony surinaame on the 11 october MDCCCXII.
