Modes et Manière d'Aujourd'hui, 1922, Pl. 12 : L'écran, Fernand Siméon, 1923 Canvas Print
Woman in a cloak whose collar and sleeves have a geometric flower pattern. Scarf around the neck. Small handbag in hand. Behind her, a man with a slit hat and striped scarf puts on his coat. They leave a cinema with orchestra before the film is over. The print is part of a series of 12 woodcuts by Fernand Siméon, with texts by Paul Valery, for the seventh part (10th année 1922) of Modes et Manières d'Aujourd'hui. Each edition had a circulation of only 300 pieces and was exclusively dedicated to one artist who designed 12 prints around a certain theme. This series focuses on the 'life of the fashionable woman in society'.
