Nine Models of Jury Rudders, anonymous, 1820 - 1870 Canvas Print

Nine models of emergency rudder. Three emergency rudder (Nos. 1-3) are almost identical to models NG-MC-228, 229 and 230. They have a steng as rudder king and the rudder blade is composed of roundwood with planks covered. Two of them (nos. 1-2) have a donkey head as a rudder hook around the king, in the third an anchor stick was used for this. One emergency rudder (no. 2) has an anchor pole around the rudder head, similar to model NG-MC-229 (Pakenham's emergency rudder). The fourth model is a smaller version of this type of emergency rudder and has two short anchor poles around the king, one as a stirrer hook and one around the rudder head. Two almost identical models (Nos. 5-6) are emergency rudders with a steng as rudder king and the rudder blade is composed of bunches held together by planks; These models have special brass stirring hooks. The seventh model, made of planks, has a drop shape and is presumably based on Bassiere's design. The last pair of models (nos. 8-9) consists of a ra around which a cabinet is built. The corners of the cabinet are reinforced on the inside with the cheeks of roller horses. One model (no. 8) is equipped with slings on one side, presumably for the attachment of steering languages.
