Panelling and paintings Herengracht 524 in Amsterdam, J. Andriessen, 1771 Canvas Print

The painted room at Herengracht 524 is located in the back house on the first floor. The room has on the short side two windows that look like the garden. The walls have a panelling above which there are boxes with wall paintings. The stucco ceiling has a koof with seed motifs that matches the panelling. In the middle of the long wall is the chimney with white marble cloak and bosom on which a large mirror is placed. Wall paintings are located on both sides of the chimney. On the short wall opposite the windows are two doors (the left loos) with painted upper door pieces and three paintings. On the wall opposite the chimney there are three paintings (the right of which has a signature). On either side of the windows are two paintings in grisaille with trophies hung on bows. The paintings are all bordered with profiled frames with seed beads and garlands in the corners. There is always a bow at the top of the middle. Between the windows is a similarly decorated penant table with accompanying mirror.
