Paul heals a paralyzed man at Lystra, anonymous, 1646 Canvas Print
The apostles Paul and Barnabas arrive in Lystra. There they heal a paralyzed man. The assembled crowd looks on with admiration. Then (left in the background) the priest of the temple of Jupiter and his followers want to sacrifice bulls as gifts to Paul and Barnabas, because they were under the assumption that they were Mercury and Jupiter in human form. Barnabas and Paul react in horror and manage to prevent it. On the right in the background, the sequel as the tide turns in the city: Paul is stoned to death, but he survives. Below the performance a reference in Latin to the Bible text in Hand. 14:8. This print is part of an album.
