Left: in their colourful bridal attire, Peter Marks and his fifth wife, a wealthy merchant's daughter, fall out of tune at the municipality dressed in black that has gathered because of a day of penitential penance. When she leaves the church, the women throw themselves at the merchant's daughter and tear her clothes off her body, after which she dies. Right: Peter Marks has retired to an estate he bought with the inheritance of his fifth wife. One day he sees a sixteen-year-old girl trying to resuscitate a seemingly dead bird. She becomes his sixth wife and he becomes happy with her. Numbered: V and VI.
