Portable altar, anonymous, c. 1500 - c. 1525 Canvas Print

In closed condition, the altar is rounded from above, opened it shows a niche and in each wing a halfnis. In the alcove, the half-figure of Christ with crown of thorns and loincloth rises above the edge of the tomb. Over this hangs a line robe, which partially covers the niches in front of the tomb. Christ points the right hand at the wound in his side, lifting the left hand to show the nail wound. On the left side of the tomb are three ointment pots (albarelli), on the right are the three dice. In the background the cross, in which another nail sticks and on which the table with I.N.R.I.; further a stand-alone lance and part of the reed stem with sponge. In each of the hemispheres an angel, standing on a forward-facing, profiled pedestal, placed on an ascending bottom; these pedestals have a niche on each side and a flat cover with truncated angle above them. The left angel probably holds a fragment of the stem of a lily, the right probably part of a sword, given the round button on his left hand. Both wear a diadem and over the albe, under which a bare foot protrudes, a choir cap closed by a spang. The large niche is formed from a narrow and a wide hollow frame behind it, separated left and right by a thin column with capital. These carry a curved bead and openwork mesh. Between the back wall and the rear hollow frame a continuous bead, connected to a low wall, which protrudes above the tomb. In both hemispheres, the mesh is part of the bead. The hollow frames show large and small rosettes, interspersed in the middle niche with 'pearls'.
