Roemer with a Portrait of Prince Maurice, anonymous, c. 1618 - c. 1625 Canvas Print
Low, from a thread spun foot. Soul inserted. The trunk, which is occupied with four rows of thorn-studs, is blown as a whole with the high, curved chalice. A smooth thread indicates the transition from the trunk to the calyx. On the chalice, the portrait of Prince Maurice (1567-1625) is engraved in an oval medallion, surrounded by the edge letter 'MAURI. BY. D. GRA. GEBO. PRINCE. V. ORA. GRAVE. V. NA'. Under the portrait two hands beaten in one. On the reverse a view of Dordrecht, held up by two angels. Above the cityscape is a banderolle with the inscription 'DORDRECHT' engraved. Underneath are a parrot, picking berries from a twig and depicting a butterfly.
