Savonnerietapijt met medaillon, Manufacture de la Savonnerie, c. 1665 - c. 1670 Canvas Print
Savonnerie carpet with medallion. Midfield: in a black long distance there is a round medallion of white in the middle with four times a curved scalloped half-circular shield of blue with a snake of yellow (jacket?), interrupted by a cross-placed quivers and helmet; in the heart a green laurel wreath and leaf rosette of terra; edge of terra-red with double pendulum band of yellow with acanthus leaf of white and blue. The remaining field is once again divided by a frame of beige-brown, encased in yellow bands, which is half-circularly scalloped on the short sides, and which is filled with rose-red acanthus spiral and various flowers. The black long distance is covered by two-sided symmetrical acanthus vines, which assume a pair of snake-engupulated white-yellow acanthusvoluten, from which a yellow shell depends on blue ribbon, while on the inside a blue sphere with laurel weather branches crosses the medallion. On the middles of the long sides a star-shaped sun with face (Louis XIV).
