A soldier on guard, feet out, to the right, holding a musket (a certain type of firearm) by his right side, his right index finger on the trigger, his left hand around the fork of the furket (musket fork) on which the barrel rests, tilted upwards (no. 37), c. 1600. In his left hand also a burning fuse. Plate 37 in the instructions for handling the musket: Corte subrechtinghe on the figuerliicke imagehe, so much aengaet the right ghebruyck vant Musquet.
