Soldier on guard with a rudder that takes his fuse, Jacob de Gheyn (II) (workshop or), c. 1597 - 1607 Canvas Print

A soldier on guard, at his feet, to the right, holding a rudder (a certain type of firearm) with his left hand. In his left hand, in addition to the rudder, there is also a burning fuse. With his right hand he takes this fuse. It is therefore the same position as the one shown on the fifth print of the series. This print is part of the series of 42 hand-numbered prints of helmsmen in the Wapenhandelinghe. On this copy the number is printed.
