Stoplap made of cotton in which nine stops of different sizes have been worked with multicoloured silk and in the middle a representation in petit point surrounded by crowns and wreaths with initials, ANNO 1837, Maria Egersman, 1837 Canvas Print
This is an example of a second trial in stopping the Public Work and Learning School in Amsterdam. The stop work is of high quality and the very large stop in the lower left corner, with the side-sided sided edges, deserves respect. The romantic castle landscape and the ornament are embroidered over one fabric thread. The stoppers are arranged in horizontal rows, from left to right and from .b.n.b.: pointedkeper, eye (identification sign of this school), snag: spire, knitting stitch (nice example, see also back sampler!), tucking, flat binding, pointed beetle, pointed beetle, twill, twill. The open hem is made with a linen thread. AH stands for Alida Haring, the craft miss.
