Strip bobbin lace with a row of windows and a wavy scallop edge, anonymous, c. 1915 Canvas Print

Strip of bobbin lace: noose lace. The repeating pattern consists of a row of diamonds made in linen stroke with an openwork center. At the top between the windows are smaller panes in net stroke and at the bottom always an inverted v between the successive diamonds, also made in net stroke. The motifs are connected by a stroptralie ground. The scallop edge consists of a wavy or zigzagging track made in linen stroke with openwork edges. The top is straight finished. In the description that was made of this strip around 1933 it is stated that the common straight underside at the noose side in the 's Gravenmoerse lace school was often replaced by a schulpenrand from its foundation in 1914.
