Studbook of the pupils of the Colonial School for Girls and Women in The Hague part II (1930-1949), anonymous, 1930 - 1949 Canvas Print
Studbook of the Colonial School for Girls and Women, a training institute that opened its doors in The Hague in September 1921. In quarterly courses, the pupils, almost without exception engaged or married to men who left for the Dutch East Indies, were prepared for a life there. The studbook, consisting of two parts, contains the registration of the students. It has a black linen cover, the bracts have a marble motif. The interior of part II consists of 161 pre-printed pages with columns and rows that are filled in by hand. The titles of the column heads are: 'course followed', 'studbook number', 'names and first names, as well as place of residence', 'married or engaged? If so with whom?', 'presumed destination (place and time)', 'hand sign' and 'explanations (including later messages)'. On the right page are small, often cut out, photos of the students pasted, occasionally group photos, wedding photos and other documents. Seventeen photos and documents were found loose in the studbook.
