Capture of Ghent by the Allies, the city surrendered on December 30, 1708, final agreement reached on January 12, 1709. The central representation of offering the keys of city encased in a richly decorated ornamental frame with at the top a cartouche with a map of the city. Here is an eagle with a shield with the monogram CR (Carolus Rex) of Charles III. At the bottom a cartouche with the description of the events in German, on the right flowing gods, on the left the city maiden with the Dutch (Flemish?) Lion. At the bottom right the radiant shield with the monogram CR by Carolus Rex. Sheet in the bound collection of plates released under the title: Repraesentatio belli ...
