Niobe dressed in a blue cloak of 14th century Lucca broca brocate, trimmed with ermine, followed by drag bearers and servants, addresses a group of women and children. On the middle plan a burning altar on which a golden statue of Latona with the twins. On the left is a priest, who brings a libation sacrifice, around sacrificial and pleading women. On the left the divine retribution: Niobe's fleeing children are killed by the arrows, which Apollo and Diana shoot at them from the clouds. In the upper corners Pax and Fama, in the lower corners each time two mythological figures: on the left Mars et Venus; on the right Jupiter et Calisto. Marked with the city mark of Delft, left in the blue lower border: H D (Holland Delft) drawn between board and middle FRANCISCUS. SPIRINGIUS. FECIT. ANNO 1610. In the right blue hem is the weaver's mark.
