John kneels on the bank, as a sign of his humility before Christ, and pours water over Christ's head from the palm of his hand. Above his head floats a dove in a halo, the Holy Spirit. Above it we see God the Father, who watches from a cloud and makes a gesture of blessing. On the right, believers undress to be baptized in the water.
