The Cannon ‘Fredelant’, Willem Tolhuys (attributed to), 1533 Canvas Print

Decorated, bronze-cast small cannon, called Fredelant. The zundgat is installed in the octagonal rear end. As far as decoration is concerned, the barrel is divided into four compartments, which are separated by profiles. The first hexagonal box shows kandelaber-like motifs. The second compartment is octagonal and has two taps at the bottom. In this box the inscription FREDELANT. BVN / ICK. GENAMT and the dating 1533. Lacey and round profiles are placed between the second and third compartments. The third box has an ornament that has been conjured and on which the alliance coat of arms of Hendrik van Isendoorns à Blois and Sophia van Stommel is affixed. The fourth box is covered with windows. The mouth consists of a number of profiles, an octagonal thickening and a cord profile.
